AMD Instinct GPUs enable Day 0 deployment of MiniMax-H3, a cutting-edge video generation model producing 2K clips with stereo audio.

AMD has announced Day 0 support for MiniMax-H3, the latest video generation model from Chinese AI firm MiniMax, on its Instinct MI355X and MI300X GPUs. This collaboration allows the powerful multimodal model to run efficiently on AMD’s hardware, marking a significant milestone for AI-driven video and audio generation.

MiniMax-H3, released on July 31, 2026, represents a generational leap in video synthesis. Unlike its predecessor, the Hailuo series, which separated tasks like text-to-video (T2V) and image-to-video (I2V) into distinct pipelines, H3 unifies text, image, video, and audio inputs into a single framework. The model generates up to 15-second clips at 2K resolution (1440p) with synchronized stereo audio, surpassing the 1080p, 10-second output of earlier models. It also introduces capabilities like instruction-based video editing and reference-driven animation, making it one of the most versatile open-weight video models available.

AMD’s support relies on its ROCm platform and SGLang framework to optimize MiniMax-H3’s compute-heavy architecture. By employing 8-way sequence parallelism and leveraging AMD’s AI Tensor Engine (AITER) kernels, the GPUs ensure smooth processing of the joint video-audio latents that form the core of H3’s output. This is critical for maintaining alignment between motion and sound, a hallmark of H3’s capabilities.

The model architecture itself is highly modular. MiniMax-H3 splits tasks across two partitions: FL2VA for text-to-video and frame-conditioned input, and Ref2VA for reference-driven generation. Each partition includes components like a multimodal text encoder, specialized video and audio VAEs, and a diffusion transformer that denoises latents in tandem. This design not only enhances performance but also makes deployment scalable across different hardware setups.

Beyond technical advancements, MiniMax-H3’s open-weight release under the MiniMax Community License is a major draw for developers. It lowers barriers to entry for those experimenting with video generation, positioning H3 as a dominant player in the open AI landscape. The model is already available on platforms like Atlas, where users can access it for $0.14 per second at 2K resolution.

For AMD, this launch highlights the growing synergy between AI workloads and its Instinct GPU line. By enabling efficient deployment of a cutting-edge model like MiniMax-H3, the company signals its competitiveness in the AI hardware market, where NVIDIA’s dominance has long been unchallenged. The collaboration also underscores the increasing demand for high-performance GPUs capable of handling sophisticated diffusion-based models.

Looking ahead, AMD’s support for MiniMax-H3 sets the stage for further optimizations, including batch processing capabilities and improved kernel performance. As AI-driven video generation gains traction, both AMD and MiniMax appear well-positioned to capitalize on the growing interest in multimodal content creation.
