Linea still launches the most Ethereum-centric layer 2

Linea is rewriting the rules of Layer 2 design by becoming the most natural extension, rather than mimicking Ethereum. In its latest announcement, Linea has introduced a bold framework featuring native ETH yields, protocol-level ETH Burn, and the Ethereum-Native consortium to manage the largest ecosystem fund in L2 history.

With over $10 billion in $ETH bets and transaction volumes above 25T, Ethereum is already the dominant settlement layer in the world. Now, Linea aims to accelerate control of Ethereum by providing consistent economics, capital efficiency and unparalleled developer incentives.

First ETH burning with Layer 2

In a move that directly benefits Ethereum Mainnet, Linea will be the first L2 to burn ETH at the protocol level. Specifically, 20% of all net transaction fees (paid in ETH) will be consumed. This permanently reduces ETH supply, supports the generation of layer 1 values, and promotes long-term ETH values.

This mechanism is the first of the roll-up, highlighting Linea’s commitment to strengthening Ethereum’s economic model.

Bridged Eth wins Defi Rewards

Unlike most idle L2s, Linea, which bridges ETH, introduces traditional ETH yields. Linea’s ETH deposits earn staking rewards distributed to fluidity providers (LPS). LPS also benefits from the return of the entire Defi activity on the network, producing some of the best risk-adjusted returns in crypto.

This means that users no longer have to choose between capital efficiency and yield. Linea delivers both.

A $100 million ecosystem fund with distributions lined up on Ethereum

Linea is launching its largest L2 ecosystem fund to date.

There is no insider allocation. There are no private rounds. No value extraction. The incentives lined up on Ethereum only reflect the Genesis spirit of the original launch of ETH.

Managed by Ethereum-Native Consortium

The newly established Linea Consortium oversees fund allocation and governance. The founding members are:

The group is already comprised of projects that are strengthening Ethereum’s infrastructure, and it is expected that more members will soon be participating.

Linea’s Vision: Where Ethereum Wins

Linea combines the perfect Ethereum equivalence (same development tools, same opcode) with ETH such as native gas tokens, ETH burns, capital-efficient mechanisms, and ecosystem first tocononomics. This will result in an L2 lined up in the existing Ethereum. This is what both technology and economics will first help Ethereum.
