Aavegotchi officially leaves the polygon and joins the base
The Aavegotchi team has announced the completion of the migration from polygon blockchain to base, indicating the end of the multi-year expansion in polygons. This transition relocates Aavegotchi’s foundation as a new home for assets, smart contracts, gameplay and DAO governance.
All Polygon smart contracts are frozen and the Aavegotchi ecosystem is only working on future bases.
Why was the base chosen?
The decision to move was not arbitrary. Four key factors drove the movement, according to the announcement.
Infrastructure Scalability: The Base provides a more robust technical foundation that can support the migration from Aavegotchi’s Gameified NFT project to the full-fledged Onchain protocol. A unique token that allows Aavegotchi to stay in line with Ethereum’s core values. Cultural fit: Bases encourage experimentation and complexity.
What does migration mean for users?
Once the move is complete, Aavegotchi assets such as NFTs, wearables, and gameplay items are reflected as base via snapshots and mint. Most users do not need to perform any actions. It must be automatically displayed in your base wallet.
The Polygon token remains displayed as a non-transferable ERC-721 for reference. In-game items such as Liam’s parcels and installations and alchemica are expected to move in later phases.
For those who own assets in contracts such as Gotchi Vault and Gnosis Safes, the team replicated these holdings at comparable addresses on the base. The problem can be resolved through Aavegotchi’s mismatch support ticket.
What’s next for base aavegotchi?
Currently, based on the base, Aavegotchi is preparing to launch new projects such as Gotchi Guardians, DAO Infrastructure, and Extended Community Tools. This transition is also consistent with continued efforts to expand GHST’s liquidity and fundamental integration.
It’s a big change, but the team argues that this is part of a broader move towards a more scalable, distributed, Ethereum-lined ecosystem.
